Simply put, we are a team of gardening specialists that get to indulge our passion every day (and even call it our job!). We started over 17 years ago when our founder, Charles Stenftenagel, struggled to find the best tools, the right accessories, and the unique products he wanted for his own, personal gardens. He knew he wasn't alone. Thus our company was born, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Our Story

Tierra International was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Jasper, Indiana. The company was built on the premise of importing distinctive, high-quality hard goods from Europe and selling the products as Earthmade, a high-end mail order catalog.

In 1998 the Wholesale Division was started and in early 1999, Tierra International acquired the de Van Koek company, bringing on exclusive product lines such as DeWit Garden Tools. DeWit garden tools are the world's best. Old-fashion quality combined with innovative designs make DeWit tools the ultimate gardener's choice.

In 2000, the decision was made to sell the Earthmade catalog business to

In 2005, Tierra was appointed the exclusive distributor for Worth Products, a leading manufacturer of garden tools and accessories in China.

In July of 2006, Tierra International synergized with Dero Horticulture's US operations to form TDI or Tierra-Derco International. The marriage of these two products lines created a great opportunity for garden retailers to purchase an exclusive selection of hard goods from one reliable source.

By adding Tierra's line to the exclusive, high-quality designs by Derco, a product offering like no other in the business exists. Derco Horticulture Inc. of Canada was founded in 1998 with one goal: offering consumers a wide range of unique decorative garden products. Derco products are conceptualized and designed in-house. Each year, new designs are added to keep the line fresh and unique.

In 2009, TDI announced a major partnership with Cranswick, a leading manufacturer of bird feeders in the UK. This alliance established TDI as the exclusive distributor of Nature's Feast Bird Feeders in the United States. With premium to value ranges of feeders, Nature's Feast has something to suit everyone, from the bird enthusiast to the casual bird watcher.

December 31, 2012, TDI acquired the assets of Stone Age Creations, LTD. This acquisition strengthens the TDI market position and will enhance the future growth opportunities of the brand. Stone Age Creations is located in New London, Ohio and has a well-established business with impressive growth since its startup in 2002. Stone Age Creations offers hand-carved, natural stone statuary and will continue to operate from its New London, Ohio facility. The purchase of Stone Age Creations is an excellent addition to the established flagship product lines sold by TDI.

In 2013, with the acquisition of Stone Age Creations, TDI chose to change its name and do business as TDI Brands and created three distinct divisions: Stone Age Creations, TDI Carts & Trunk Liners, and Tierra Garden.

“The TDI Brands name reflects who we are today, and allows us to clearly define each of our divisions under one strategic company,” said TDI Brands President Charles Stenftenagel. “As our product offerings, our customers, and our industries continue to expand, each of our divisions will be better positioned to serve customers and strengthen relationships, all while gaining operational efficiencies through a unified parent company.”

Also in 2013, over 175 new products were added to the already robust offering of products.  Tierra Garden became the exclusive distributor of Haxnicks, introduced a private tool, Tierra Pro, and added new fiber-clay birdbaths, among others.  TDI Carts & Liners added a new cart and wagon, while Stone Age continued to add to their benches, animals, and lanterns, and other categories.

Today, we continue to be your go-to resource for gardening tools, accessories, gloves, accents, birding products, shopping carts, trunk liners, and real-stone statuary. And our exclusive lines continue to grow: DeWit Tools, Rostaing Gloves, Peacock Garden Supports, Birds & Beyond, Stone Age Creations, Tierra Pro Tools, and more.

At TDI Brands, we strive to create a team-oriented environment that inspires growth and operational excellence.
